Film Klaxon: Girls Can't Surf.

by Andrew MacGregor

'Girls Canít Surf', a new documentary by Finch's Christopher Nelius, focuses on the rise of female surfers amid rampant sexism in the 1980s.

Nelius's vivid blend of archive footage and contemporary interviews shows how women like Jodie Cooper and Frieda Zamba fought to destroy the eye candy stereotype once and for all. As four-time world surfing champion Wendy Botha says, this meant war against "dumbass chauvinistic pigs".
