Restoring colour with Before I Forget.

Bristol-based development studio 3-Fold Games have released their debut title, ‘Before I Forget’, in conjunction with Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Produced by 3-Fold co-founders Chella Ramanan and Claire Morwood, the game explores dementia through the eyes of Sunita (voiced by Anjali Kunapaneni) as she navigates her washed-out home.

By interacting with certain objects, however, players can learn more about Sunita’s past and restore colour to her world. It’s a simple yet poignant slant on a condition rarely depicted in video games.

Tim Parry, director at Alzheimer’s Research UK, describes ‘Before I Forget’ as a “unique medium for bringing to life the confusion and fear of dementia”, as well as a reminder of “the pivotal moments in our lives that make us who we are”. It’s up to players to find Sunita’s.

The game also tees up World Alzheimer's Month in September, so gamers touched by Sunita’s plight may see how the condition is treated and studied in real life. 'Before I Forget' is available on Steam and itch.io.
