After eight fruitful years at ITV, Alex Dickinson is back on the commercial beat with Curly. As a director and creative, Dickinson made promos for the likes of 'Coronation Street', 'Love Island', and 'The Only Way is Essex', with a few channel launches and rebrands chucked in for good measure.
He directed idents for the brand's 2022 makeover, for example, emphasising each channel's distinctive worldview. Each location in this 60" batch markedly changes depending on each station's tone and audience, so a field may host a music festival (ITV2), an alien abduction (ITV4), or some hardcore metal-detecting (ITV3). For Dickinson, variety is indeed the spice of life.
Such efforts lead Curly co-founder Julia Frost to say: "Alex has a unique creative approach to his work. He shoots and edits stylishly managing to instil wry humour and irony at the same time making his work slick and fun to watch. We're delighted to have a director of his calibre and TV experience on our roster and look forward to seeing his commercial work develop."
And what does the man of the hour have to say? "I am delighted to be part of this dynamic production company and I'm looking forward to working with their talented team. Iím hoping I can contribute my skills and passion for storytelling to help create meaningful and memorable content that resonates with audiences and leaves a lasting impact."
