Paws for Concern

by Syd Briscoe

Trainline: “Coming Home” - 30s

Emergencies - both serious and fanciful - can be dealt with quickly via train travel. At least, that's the premise of this amusing commercial for ticket booking app Trainline. A woman receives an unexpected phone call from her mother and drops everything to head home, barely pausing to pack lunch and book tickets along the way.

A pacy montage of the app's features speaks to their convenience of use while travelling, from live platform information to digital tickets which can be quickly scanned to get from place to place. Luckily, the family emergency turns out to be pup-related rather than anything terrible... which must be a relief after travelling through London to get to it.

Unlike a jaunt across the capital, the ad comes in at a tight 30", which makes the strong lead performance and brisk visuals all the more effective. Canny and comic work.
