Still all to play for.

Wimbledon: “The Story Continues” - 60s

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club typically inspires advertising brimming with nostalgia and contemporary vim. Following 2018's exemplary effort, this new ad from McCann London and director Elliot Dear once again leans into Wimbledon's storied past, as well as the historical events surrounding each championship.

Starting with Amelia Earhart's first transatlantic flight in 1932 and Fred Perry's maiden title two years later, the piece jumps in time to include Billie Jean King/Apollo 11, Pete Sampras/Thrust SSC breaking the land speed record, and Serena Williams/the Curiosity probe's launch, among others.

This is done through deft manipulation of archive footage and photography, as well as a nod to the ways sports coverage has changed through the decades. Let's see whether 2019's crop can earn a place in future flashbacks.
