From lights to bites.

by Andrew MacGregor

Waitrose: “Countdown” - 30s

More seasonal impatience from Waitrose as a town prepares to switch on its Christmas lights with a traditional countdown. Crowd primed and oversized red button operational, a local dignitary relishes his chance to deliver those ten all-important digits - alas, the peckish mayor has other ideas.

Her shameless transition from stage to starters is nicely played, as are the reactions of her bewildered cronies. Like other instalments in this campaign, such larks show the advertised supermarket are game to serve up more light-hearted Christmas fare than in previous years.
