Everyday Champions

by Syd Briscoe

WWE: “We Are All Superstars” - 60s

The spirit of wrestling inhabits fans from all walks of life in this intriguing outing for the WWE. Famous faces and their iconic moves appear in a diverse array of everyday scenarios, from a waiter preparing to throw down with Stone Cold Steve Austin to a spelling bee contestant taking inspiration from sounding out 'submission'.

Director Brian Billow trades on nostalgia to good effect here, transporting fans back to the golden age of wrestling with clips from well before Dwayne Johnson was anything but The Rock. Meanwhile, modern fans are also catered for with nods to the likes of Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns.

Whatever your vintage, it's an affectionate tribute to the way fans' passion bleeds into their daily lives... although we hope there are minimal choke holds involved.
