Electric pipe dreams.

by Andrew MacGregor

Vauxhall Corsa: “Switch It Up” - 60s

To say there are more ads for electric cars than there are charging stations may be an exaggeration, but, as forecasters predict a spike in e-car sales, some fear the UK’s infrastructure is ill-equipped to cope.

That hasn’t stopped Vauxhall from proclaiming it’s “time to play by new rules” (a car sector staple if we ever heard one) and that petroleum is “back in the ground where it belongs”. Well, sucks to be you, stereotypical Texas oilman.

Such imagery - including a fetching dominoes 'map' - underscores the brand’s confidence in electric car technology as UK sales of conventional vehicles tumble. However, is it enough to persuade motorists to risk a flat battery?
