Keep Your Shirt On

by Syd Briscoe

Thomas Pink: “A Life in the Pink” - 1 min 45s

Character actor Matthew Goode's latest sponsorship deal takes a turn for the weird in this funny ad for shirtmakers Thomas Pink. What initially seems to be a standard celebrity endorsement-slash-puff piece soon morphs into something far more interesting, combining comedy and satire to make us wonder what other strange contract stipulations are out there.

Goode plays his part of the harried celebrity perfectly, as it's established that his contract (not read by his useless assistant, who makes a lovely cameo) requires him to wear one of the brand's shirts everywhere... yes, even in the shower.

The actor's increasingly farcical efforts to continue on with his day in spite of this weird rule are nicely captured by director Sophie Edelstein, as games of tennis, a hot bath, and even a simple walk are hampered by high fashion. The final shot of Goode in bed whilst wearing a full tuxedo is an amusingly absurd note to end on, too.
