Time-Travelling Treats

by Syd Briscoe

Tesco: “Christmas Times” - 90s

A time-travelling delivery man spices up Christmases through the ages in this entertaining holiday effort for Tesco. What seems like an ordinary shift before Christmas takes a surprising turn, as a string of rogue fairy lights send the guy - and his van full of goodies - hurtling through a particularly festive wormhole.

Each historical set piece is handled nicley, as the bewildered bloke makes his way fromVictorian times back to the present day. Incidental details also ensure the vibe of each decade is captured to a tee, while a few notable historical figures (and reindeer) get their own Christmas treats along the way.

All's well that ends well, too, as the era-hopping employee manages to make it back to his own family dinner before the turkey gets cold. While Hollywood thankfully resists the urge to reboot ‘Back to the Future', work like this shows there is still demand for Doc Brown technology.
