The best intentions?

by Andrew MacGregor

Synadis: “The Salesman” - 80s

To paraphrase Wall Street's Gordon Gekko, green, for lack of a better word, is good. As a slew of brands reap the short-term benefits of going green, this droll film by organic produce union Synadis suggests that not all ‘environmentally friendly' operations can be trusted.

What follows is an enjoyably shady sales pitch from a fruit company that leapt on the eco-bandwagon and have no intention of jumping off. Why? "Because it brings in a lot of money and enhances our image!" Talk about a rotten apple.

While corporate suits won't exactly be losing sleep over this, director Hugue de la Brosse's well-made satire may lead consumers to question just how ethical some of their go-to brands really are.
