Hard to swallow

by Andrew MacGregor

Subway: “Protest” - 40s

Subway bid to steal Extinction Rebellion's thunder with an ad that sees rival fast food outlets Burger King, McDonald's, and KFC (or guerilla parodies of them, at least) turn nasty. Sure enough, production on the sandwich chain's latest commercial is temporarily suspended by three protesters in slapdash disguises.

The madcap action is enhanced by the crew's efforts to reason with the intruders before all hell finally breaks loose. It all suggests the brand have got under their competitors' skins... and are willing to let their employees and affiliated partners suffer the consequences.
