On Every Corner

by Syd Briscoe

Starbucks: “Coming Home” - 60s

This smartly-designed film for Starbucks emphasises the universal allure of a good cup of coffee. The brand cultivate a unifying atmosphere - exploring the various incarnations of their cafes and take-home products alike - and the result is an ad with a surprisingly homely feel... as much as a multinational chain can be homely, at least.

It's a canny move to turn their ubiquitous presence into a selling point, as the brand remind audiences that probably every adult in the Western world has some kind of Starbucks-related memory to draw on. Over-caffeinated editing aside, director Peter Pint ensures the ad is engaging from beginning to end.
