Banking on success.

Standard Chartered: “A Liverpool Story” - 90s

This is the second ad to feature a mural of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold in as many weeks, with Standard Chartered the latest to visit the corner of Sybil Street and Anfield Road. Directed by Rollo Jackson, the female-led film rolls the clock back to 2010 - the year the advertised bank became club sponsors.

The next ten years are neatly summarised through archive footage, radio snippets, and names on the back of replica shirts (the despair of a Fernando Torres fan circa. 2011 is palpable). Astrća’s full-blooded rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ threatens to distract from these moments, but that won’t bother supporters currently riding the crest of a wave.
