One More Day Won't Hurt

by Andrew MacGregor

Slaves: “One More Day Won't Hurt” - 3 mins 16s

Punk rock duo Slaves are on typically febrile form with new track ‘One More Day Won't Hurt', and director Will Hooper has delivered a seizure-baiting promo to boot. As Laurie Vincent and Isaac Holman stew inside an anonymous building, the broil of toxic masculinity threatens to overwhelm the screen.

This is represented by flashes of crushed cars, stale pints of cider, and nails embedded in slabs of meat. Coupled with the presence of four topless, tattoo-clad bruisers, it's clear to see that Messrs Vincent and Holman are concerned by what they see in their fellow man.

Their response is a lyrical takedown that evokes the loutish antagonist of ‘The Irony of It All' by The Streets. Here, the target is "beered up, geared up, and saying, "Who wants it?"" - and their time is slowly but surely coming to an end.
