Short Films: “Midnight Snack” - 5 mins 02s

Director Luke Roulstone's viscerally weird short film takes the idea of junk food and crap telly to the max. A woman's midnight snack is infested with worms and other creepy crawlies, while her hypnotic viewing takes a sinister slant.

The film adopts a decidedly unsettling tone, as the audience struggles to work out if the protagonist (played by Hannah Boyd) is transfixed or terrified. It's a creepy balance, ensuring the viewer remains engrossed as things get, ahem, stranger.

Part satire and part gross-out horror, this will strike an uncomfortable chord for anyone who's spent many late nights in front of trashy shows during lockdown. Definitely a reminder to check your snacks for unwelcome visitors, too.
