Uneasy rider.

by Andrew MacGregor

Short Films: “Delivered” - 4 mins 18s

At one point during Law Chen’s ‘Delivered’, a bicycle courier passes a man waving a Trump 2020 flag on the streets of New York. As if America’s current predicament wasn’t bad enough, there may be worse still to come.

For now, though, director Chen is more concerned with the story of food delivery riders in America’s most populous city. Blending telephone conversations and wheel-life footage, he illustrates the plight of those who must keep moving during lockdown.

One courier, for example, relates his mum’s pleas for him to stay at home. He responds: “I do delivery to take care of my family back home in Africa”. Local delivery, therefore, becomes an international problem.
