Naut to Do

by Syd Briscoe

Short Films: “Astronaut” - 7 mins 47s

This evocative short film is bound to hit home for many in the current climate, as an astronaut suddenly finds themselves unemployed. Position terminated due to technological progress rather than global pandemic, the former space explorer is forced to spend their time stacking shelves, cleaning offices, and generally contemplating where it all went wrong.

It's the palpable sense of isolation which will register most with audiences, as the besuited being sticks out like a sore thumb in everyday environments. A trip to a museum provides an unexpectedly poignant ending, courtesy of a bemused security guard who unwittingly helps the earthbound explorer find their new place in the world.
