Question Time

by Syd Briscoe

Road Safety (Republic of Ireland): “Seatbelts” - 50s

Catastrophic scenarios of seatbelt rejection plague the protagonist in this amusing outing for Road Safety Ireland. A driver wants to ask his mate to buckle up for the duration of their journey, only to find himself beset with the notion that his question might be rejected in the strongest possible terms.

Thus, a normal car trip transforms into a boxing ring with fire-breathing tattooed fighters, a 50s sitcom, and a nightmarish courtroom by turns. Ultimately, though, concern for his friend's safety is enough to push through the fear of being seen as a nag - and it pays off. This is a well executed reminder that there's nothing sissy about safety.
