Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network: “Wait” - 2 mins 48s

This intense communication for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) highlights the lack of trained support workers currently available in American hospitals. Director Samantha Scaffidi ratchets up the tension from the word go, as ominous sound design and jolts of unexpected noise begin to wear on a woman in a waiting room.

An impressive central performance anchors the almost three-minute film, as fear, grief, and anxiety haunt the main character without a word spoken. The ending feels oppressively inevitable, the woman's empty chair a condemnation of a system which doesn't support her. RAINN intend to change that, and this powerful work demonstrates just how vital their services really are.
