March of the polygons.

by Andrew MacGregor

PlayStation: “It's Time to Play” - 60s

Last month, a superb ad for PlayStation showed many of the console's heavy hitters in free fall. Here, the brand opt for a ground offensive as an even larger cast of characters enters our flesh and blood realm.

Scored by Kaiser Chiefs's ‘I Predict a Riot' (and oddly sending viewers back fifteen years to the PlayStation 2 era), the ad draws from the platforms's considerable talent pool, including stars of ‘God of War', ‘Fortnite', and the much revered ‘Final Fantasy VII'.

Like ‘The Drop', there's plenty to enjoy in watching these larger-than-life characters interact with the real world - whether they offer Viking shave tips or commit a breach of the peace down the local library. It's nothing we haven't seen before, but the idea has replay value.
