Morning glory.

Olay: “Face the Day” - 60s

Director Ed Sayers's well-judged piece for Olay riffs on overambitious beauty routines and wellness hacks. While a breezy VO describes her "luminous" start to the day - including meditative sitting and filling her gratitude journal - what's shown on-screen paints a decidedly different story.

Torn from her loving relationship with the snooze button, the protagonist groggily tackles her morning routine: a slapdash cup of tea, a face-to-face meeting with the kitchen table, and a small dollop of face cream.

While this may not be lifestyle guru material, it's a refreshing shift from flawless brand ambassadors to something more relatable. As for the final shot, some mornings really do call for a lie-in.
