National Center for Missing & Exploited Children: “Runaway Train 25” - 60s

The original film for Runaway Train, released by Soul Asylum in the early 90s, raised awareness of missing children and featured pictures of actual kids who had disappeared.

Of the 36 broadcast to screens across the world, 25 were recovered. Now, the USA's National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children has updated both the promo and track for the 21st Century, featuring such artists as Jamie N Commons and Skylar Grey.

Of course, the technology behind the campaign has also changed with the times. The accompanying website offers viewers the chance to use geolocation to view cases near them, plus pause the film and report sightings in real time.

From waiving a mandatory 72 hour wait time to report a child missing to implementing the instantaneous Amber Alert system, this revitalised campaign is another step in the right direction to bring more vulnerable children home.
