My Legacy (ft. Micky Blue & MRTL)

by Andrew MacGregor

Mikill Pane: “My Legacy” - 3 mins 42s

Hackney-born rapper Mikill Pane rides the synthwave with new track ‘My Legacy’, blending a fantastical Eighties sound with quick-fire, aspirational lyrics. Think Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Drive’ on the streets of east London.

There are no crushed skulls or slit wrists in the accompanying promo, however, as director Yankey uses vivid stop-motion animation to bring Pane’s bullish story to life. Guest vocalist Micky Blue, meanwhile, is bathed in electric pinks and blues as she unfurls the chorus.

The result is a dreamy, playful, and witty ode to humble beginnings and to growing as an artist. So, if you’re going to jump through hoops - like guest artist MRTL does on a basketball court - do it in style.
