Land Rover: “The Knob” - 3 mins 59s
Comedian Jack Whitehall and his retired showbiz agent father Michael continue to mine their chalk-and-cheese bond for all it's worth, as shown by this four-minute road trip for Land Rover. This time, the pair visit the UK's first concrete lighthouse at La Corbière, Jersey, which earns a strained two thumbs up from Jack. The real meat of the film, however, is a drive back across a causeway in reverse, as father and son put the Land Rover Discovery's Advanced Tow Assist through its paces. As the tide encroaches, it resembles the world's most intense driving test manoeuvre. It proves a surprisingly effective tech demo, aided by some fetching coastal photography and the Whitehalls' familiar but entertaining shtick. Perhaps there's still mileage to be had from this mildly intrepid double act.
