Comfort is King

by Syd Briscoe

Jockey: “Jockey or Nothing” - 80s

The right pair of skivvies can really make or break one's enjoyment of mundane activities - at least, that's the premise of this compelling ad from Jockey. A diverse cast find themselves thoroughly bored at various moments of the day - shopping, at the office, waiting for public transport, etc. - until the joy of comfy underwear takes them somewhere far beyond the ordinary.

Director Hans Emanuel skilfully walks the line between heightened reality and surreal escapism here, as the cast frolic, apparently unseen, in their surroundings. The result is a dreamlike jaunt into the subconscious glee they feel at having their bits properly swaddled, with a lighthearted edge sure to appeal to anyone prone to flights of fancy on the commute.
