Jaguar: “Good Idea” - 76s

This excellent film for Jaguar from Spark44 and Missing Link's Alicia Macdonald is a multi-layered film with a comic take on the phenomenon of men claiming authorship of ideas that women bring to them. But it's a highly effective piece of advertising as well, as it does a really good job of drawing attention to the idea that the advertised car will appeal as much for its money-saving qualities as its impressive design.

The characterisations make clever use of stereotypes and although some male viewers will take umbrage at the portrayal of the male FD as a conniving twit, it's useful to use tropes like this to expose a bit of truth, and advertising itself is full of this kind of behaviour, so really there's no reason to question its veracity.

Macdonald successfully manages the twin challenge of maintaining the comedy and constructing the advertising message with great aplomb, as those who've been watching her over the past couple of years might expect.
