Love and Youth (ft Mika)

by Alice May

Jack Savoretti: “Youth & Love (ft Mika)” - 3 mins 48s

An elderly chap - the first customer of the day in a run-of-the-mill café - is left to his own devices when the bored waitress leaves the till and heads, presumably, into the kitchen.

He considers this sudden solitude. Dapper in his black suit, with the trim, straight litheness of a much younger man, he begins to move to the rhythm of the beat in his head.

Getting up, he pours tea with a flourish. Whips a checkered cloth from its table and wears it matador-style. The video reminds us of Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice with Christopher Walken; both promos feature a single unlikely dude spontaneously deciding to dance in an unexpected setting.

However, the elderly gent here is distracted for a few brief moments when he catches sight of himself in a mirror and realises that despite his energy he no longer looks as young as he feels.

Is that going to cast him down? Watch and see. Lovely performance from David Bradley (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones)... 77 going on 17.
