Little Bit of Love

by Andrew MacGregor

J P Cooper: “Little Bit of Love” - 3 mins 30s

Amidst the rancour of Cummings-gate and Donald Trump versus social media comes this extraordinary revelation from JP Cooper: “Sometimes everybody needs a little bit of love.” Well, ‘extraordinary’ is pushing it somewhat - we reckon every singer-songwriter in existence has come to the same conclusion over the years.

What Cooper’s song lacks in originality, it makes up for with consummate summertime vibes. The Mancunian also lucks out in the user-generated content stakes, with fans providing eclectic pre-lockdown footage that is actually worth watching. Given the current circumstances, shots of a funeral cortege are particularly affecting.
