Hasta la vista, maybe?

by Andrew MacGregor

Financial Conduct Authority: “Crushed” - 30s

And so ends the payment protection insurance (PPI) saga once and for all. No more cold calls, incessant radio ads, or strange men in polo shirts knocking on our television screen. Of course, that also means no more animatronic Arnold Schwarzenegger.

No doubt some will treat this with a T-800-style thumbs up. However, it's hard to argue with the campaign's admittedly crude appeal. Arnie's incessant cry of "Do it now!" has likely become the bane of financial institutions up and down the country, with August 29th offering only mild relief.

It's fitting therefore that Arnie receives an ugly, squishy send-off, yet with room for a potential sequel. After all, everyone knows his attitude towards 'no returns' policies.
