Numb

by Syd Briscoe

Elderbrook: “Numb” - 3 mins 51s

There's a palpable sense of isolation in the opening of this intriguing promo for Elderbrook's 'Numb'. Director Aldona Kwiatkowski creates a real feeling of urban alienation as the distinctive protagonist gets ready and goes out after dark, walking alone through streets which are at once brightly lit by neon signs yet utterly devoid of human warmth.

That is, until she starts to be shadowed by a mysterious figure, who begins to mirror her every move. Rather than inspire feelings of intimidation or menace, however, this turns into a choreographed display of unity - offering up a powerful moment of connection against the backdrop of our deeply divided times.
