DB Export: “I'm Drinking It For You” - 3 mins 48s

Kiwi beer brand DB Export take an unlikely stab at a Valentine's Day ballad with this promo-length ad for their new low carb lager. When a woman asks her man a seemingly innocuous question, it triggers a committed rendition of 'I'm Drinking It For You'.

Like a romantic multitasker, the bloke lists all of the selfless gestures that can be completed with one hand, including dinner prep and watering plants. When his partner turns this into a duet, the ante is raised even further.

While the lyrics are amusing enough, director Damien Shatford enhances the cheese with slow fades, amorous prop work, and an obligatory spoof of the pottery scene from ‘Ghost'. Should tug a few heartstrings (and the odd liver) come February 14th.
