Fishman out of water.

by Andrew MacGregor

ClearScore: “Merman” - 30s

Last year, a memorable ad for ClearScore featured a half man, half zebra working in a hospital. Here, the brand draw inspiration from the briny deep with a merman who’s finally ready to surface… in, er, Liverpool.

The jocular being - comprised of shells, scales, and a great big bushy beard - explains his situation to an estate agent who thinks there might be something in her water. If only the bloke would stop pouring it all over himself.

As with 2019’s ‘Zebra’ film, however, the real talking point is the advertised credit score calculator. As more and more customers become clued up about their credit history, the brand humorously insist they can help bridge financial fantasy and reality.
