Caterham Cars: “Test Drive” - 40s

Surrey-based Caterham Cars celebrate the art of the donut in this 40" ad directed by Wriggles and Robins. Unencumbered by pesky countermeasures found in everyday vehicles, the lightweight sports car maker banishes inhibitions in a cloud of smoke and exhaust flames as the car spins three-hundred-and-sixty degrees.

This boy racer manoeuvre is granted extra nobility by a classical soundtrack, which competes with some fine-tuned engine noises for the viewer's attention. Punctuated by a tongue-in-cheek camera fail at end, it's a neat distillation of the brand's values as it targets those who get their kicks from smoking tyres.
