N*t N*tflix

by Syd Briscoe

Canal+: “The Shoot” - 78s

As the streaming wars truly begin with major studios and networks each releasing their own exclusive subscription services, Canal+ get in on the action with their own unique, er, content platform. Which, you must understand, absolutely cannot be compared to N*tflix.

This entertaining ad takes the prospect of libel and turns it into a gag, as a director attempts to explain to the star of the 'real ad' what it is they're advertising. The ensuing conversation has beautifully drawn performances courtesy of director Martin Werner, who lets the pedantic nature of the familiar censorship beep speak for itself.

However, there's one final twist in the rest of the campaign which took place after most of it had already been shot. We won't spoil the reveal, but keep an eye out for the following ads for a plot twist worthy of, er, Netflix.
