Big Racks (ft. Brooke Candy)

by Andrew MacGregor

Bree Runway: “Big Racks (ft. Brooke Candy)” - 3 mins 36s

Bree Runway's latest collaboration with director Fred Rowson begins with a trio of statistics which indicate workplace discrimination is still alive and kicking in 2019. Using the struggles of BAME workers as a launchpad, the promo offers an absurdist vision of Runway's one-woman cosmetics empire.

The Hackney-born rapper - who has spoken out about colourism in the past - is shown turning hairspray into a licence to print money, before she's finally accosted by a reporter for Glazed & Refused (a sly dig at lifestyle magazine Dazed & Confused).

Satirical touches like this add another layer to Runway's vibrant aesthetic and forthright lyrics, which also manage to fit in a nod to the Kardashians for good measure.
