Meet me halfway.

by Syd Briscoe

Asda: “Deep Trouble” - 30s

A couple with drastically different ideas about what constitutes a desirable weekend break clash in this entertaining ad for Asda. One half of the pair relishes the call of the wild, while the other longs for nothing more than a relaxing spa day with their significant other. An attempt at compromise, however, takes a turn for the unexpected.

The absurdity of the premise is nicely teased out by director Alex Boutell, and the complete absence of a link to the products being advertised (a range of plant-based food) only heightens the humour. We also like the particularly exasperated look from one rescue worker, who’s presumably encountered this bone-headed couple before.
