Adidas: “100% Unfair” - 60s

The recent controversy surrounding Nike’s Vaporfly shoes underlines the tiny margins between defeat and glory in sport. This 60” Adidas commercial, however, celebrates unfair advantages to the hilt, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek, over-caffeinated way.

The OTT edge comes courtesy of the brand’s new Predator Mutator boots and goalkeeper gloves, which cause anime-inspired spikes to emerge from Paul Pogba, Dele Alli, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Marc-André ter Stegen. Flair is flair, after all.

It’s brash, madcap stuff, but there is a sweet moment when David Beckham - a player synonymous with the Predator brand over the years - gives his approval. From a sponsorship perspective, the brand must hope the likes of Alli and Pogba rediscover their form soon.
