Anglo-Spanish production company CANADA say they "couldn't be more proud" of signing Yoni Lappin to their roster.
Oscar Romagosa, CANADA's managing director and executive producer, describes Lappin as a "great asset and artist", adding: "It would take too long to explain how we got together with Yoni, but we knew it felt right immediately."
The Israeli-born director and hip-hop enthusiast spent the early part of his career in the music industry, where he gained a thorough grounding in artist relations. This experience would prove invaluable once he moved behind the camera.
His music background then brought him into contact with various up-and-coming artists, including electronic producer Mura Masa. Lappin's 2016 promo for 'What If You Go' is just one of several collaborations between the duo.
As his skills and ambition increased, so did the resources available to him - as is reflected by Lappin's shift towards short films and documentaries. For example, 2017 saw him explore Israeli youth culture in a piece for Nowness called 'Love the Time'.
Skaters, musicians, and the odd camel populate Lappin's textured look at his homeland, as the director examines how different subcultures form an intriguing whole. Whether at home or abroad, Lappin's work is worth seeking out.
