Australian Liz Murphy has picked up a lot of plaudits since moving to the UK in 2010, and she's become a highly-sought director in a number of different markets.
It's little wonder then that The Sweetshop are so pleased to add her to their roster after she signed for global representation. London MD Spencer Dodd says: "Liz is someone Sweetshop has known and admired for some time. She's a real talent and a lovely person."
She is a director with a lovely eye for intimate details. In this Polish commercial for McDonald's from last year, she artfully demonstrates her impeccable judgement in telling a story which is stitched together in the mind of the viewer.
Emotions are heightened again in this 2017 German commercial which has an understated performance which delivers an impact that is anything but. Once again, Murphy pulls the story together like a tailor using hidden stitches to create a highly effective appeal on behalf of the advertised charity.
In the Tesco ad which follows, Murphy makes the very most of a script which doesn't offer a great deal. Mum Dee is preparing her son's favourite meal in the hope that they can celebrate his exam results. It's a lovely performance from a series which undoubtedly did a great deal for the brand... in an unshowy way. Proper advertising.
Liz Murphy - now rostered and ready at The Sweetshop: "I have admired Sweet Shop since I was a little baby director back in Brisbane making coffee. The passion and enthusiasm of everyone there is inspiring and contagious. I'm really excited to be joining the gang."
