Agile Films are pleased to announce the signing of director Giles Ripley for commercial representation.
Since graduating from the Chelsea College of Arts in 2008, Ripley has been churning out short films at an impressive rate while also building a tidy commercial reel. Regardless of the project, Ripley's flair for inventive absurdity stands out.
His 2018 ad for the North London Waste Authority, for example, mixes lo-fi costume design and 'Popcorn' by Hot Butter to remind viewers to recycle tin foil properly. Fun and memorable, it also demonstrates Ripley's ability to pack optimum energy into 30".
Brands can also trust Ripley to deliver the right balance of cheek and warmth when the script demands it. His sound judgement definitely came in handy when KFC launched an 'Irish' burger in 2016 via spokesman Randy O'Brien.
Brimming with Irish stereotypes and mispronounced names, the ad initially screams 'record number of complaints'... but Ripley ensures the brand's self-mockery is both plain to see and highly entertaining.
